Kara E. Martin, MUPPrincipal
Kara Martin, for nearly ten years, has been working on food security and access issues. As an independent consultant her work has primarily focused on community food system projects through providing technical assistance and project design in effort to improve public health and access to healthful and affordable food. She has developed a unique blend of skills in research and analysis, project development, strategic planning and grant-writing. Kara has worked on collaborative projects with the King County Food and Fitness Initiative, Delridge Healthy Corner Store Project, King County Agriculture Commission and Department of Natural Resources and Parks, Public Health - Seattle & King County's Healthy Foods Here project, William D. Ruckelshaus Center and Washington State University - King County Extension.
Kara currently is part of the King County's Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities', a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation national initiative, steering committee, City of Seattle's Carbon Neutrality Initiative food system group, KCFFI's Healthy Retail strategy team and Seattle Good Food Network. She has also presented on food system planning to the APA Inland Empire Section's Annual Conference, APA Puget Sound Chapter's Brown Bag series, and WSU - Mount Vernon Brown Bag series.
Nicole F. Sanders, MUP

Nicole Sanders recently earned the 2008-2009 Outstanding Master of Urban Planning student award while completing her Masters Degree program. During her graduate studies she interned as the project manager for the Snoqualmie Sustainability Strategy with Sterrett Consulting, completed an ICLEI greenhouse gas inventory for the city of Edmonds, and helped develop the Arlington Gateway Plan. Her thesis studies focused on LEED-ND and New Urbanist design standards; she is currently consulting with the City of Snoqualmie on their Comprehensive Plan Update and integrating Snoqualmie Sustainability Strategy principles.
